I Love The Microphone

On April 11, 2007, I made my debut as a Stanley Cup Playoffs hockey analyst on TSN, a cable sports broadcast network in Canada. In 2007, I also co-hosted two episodes of “The Best Damn Sports Show…Period” which aired on Fox Sports Net. I will never know if my role may have become a permanent one because I had not signed signed with the Sharks yet.

In October 2009, TSN’s “Off The Record” announced an agreement that had me appearing on the show as a regular contributor. My recurring segment was named “Oh JR! with Jeremy Roenick.”

I worked as an analyst for the NBC family of networks coverage of the 2010 Winter Olympics. I was also an analyst for NBC during the 2010 Stanley Cup Finals, where, after the Chicago Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup, I was both applauded and criticized for becoming overwhelmed emotionally.

I made several acting appearances on television shows as well, most recently having a cameo appearance on an episode of “Go On” on NBC on September 25, 2012. I also appeared in “The Jersey”, the popular soap opera “Days Of Our Lives”, an episode of “Leverage”, an episode of “Ghost Whisperer”, two episodes of “Hack”, and two episodes of HBO’s “Arli$$”, and I also acted as a guest host of “Wheel of Fortune”. I love being in front of the camera.

I gained pop culture notoriety when Vince Vaughn referenced me in the 1996 film Swingers. Vaughn’s character played a hockey video game in the movie, and at one point he says to his opponent, “Y’know, it’s not so much me as Roenick; he’s good …”. I’m always asked if I had ever talked to Vaughn about the line in the film. “Yeah, he is actually a fan of mine and the Chicago Blackhawks team. He told me he put me in that movie out of respect. He’s a big fan, great guy!”

In September 2010, it was announced that I would become a regular judge on the second season of CBC’s reality program, “Battle of the Blades”, which pairs ex-NHL players with professional female figure skaters to compete in a pairs figure skating competition. That was an amazing experience.

I was a also a regular guest on Fox’s “Best Damn Sports Show, Period” and I make regular visits to Dan Patrick on his current popular show, “The Dan Patrick Show.” I continue to give interviews, sharing my opinionated thoughts to fans across North America because I enjoying giving honest, outspoken answers to those show hosts.

Today I continue to analyze hockey working for NBC Sports, which has been a great transition for me in retirement.  NBC has allowed me to bring my 20 year experience as an NHL player, passion for the game, and colorful personality on to the set and transfer that energy into my commentary.  NBC has let me be myself and I am very appreciative of that.  I love sharing my opinions on the plays, the teams, the league, and bantering with Mike Milbury.

Working for NBC has been an incredible experience and the challenge of live broadcasting is more exhilarating than I had realized.  I look forward to my preparation nightly, so I can achieve success in this new chapter if my life.
