BASEBALL, TV APPEARANCES, AND HOCKEY HITS!

What an unbelievable World Series match-up! The two cities in the Country that hate each other the most, Phillies vs. Yankees. Think about the Road Rage that is going to be happening on the NJ Turnpike for the next two weeks! This is a job for Homeland Security. This is a ratings dream, for the network carrying the games, Wow. Phillies in 6!

Just in case you guys missed it, I will be doing Off The Record on TSN a couple times per month. A great way to get my opinions out there quick!
I think Michaels does a great job at instigating my opinions. Don’t miss it!

Great hit by Mike Richards on Booth. We are taught early in our career not to come across the middle and watch your pass with your head down! I learned, Lindros learned it, and Kariya Learned it… now David Booth learned it. I don’t think he will be doing that again. Mike Richards is a talented, tough, respectful hockey player. He plays the game the way it should be, with Grit and respect, and that is why he has a C on his chest. You know what people, Hockey is a hard-hitting game, deal with it!

On the other hand, Ruutu’s hit on Darcy Tucker, was a cheap shot at its finest! Hitting someone from behind is a total lack of respect, and a gutless act. If Ruutu stuck up for himself once and a while and fought more, I’d have a little bit more respect for him. He’s just a gutless hired instigator. Unfortunately the NHL has made this job acceptable and too many guys are signed with expectations of running around trying to hurt people; AKA: Jordan TooToo. The NHL needs to police those types of players a little harder to free up more spots for talented players that play the game hard, and with grit, not dirt!

FIRST IMPRESSIONS THIS SEASON

What a difference a new coach in Colorado makes, I am so proud of my buddy, Joe Sacco. I grew up playing in Boston with Joe. He has brought new life to the Pepsi Center. I do have to say I was very shocked to hear of Joe’s hiring, for I had lost touch with him after retiring and didn’t realize he was coaching in the minors, shame on me!

It’s nice to see that Rick Tocchet is teaching the Tampa Bay Lightening to compete night in night out. It is showing in the standings.

Where the Hell are the Toronto Maple Leafs? They are by far the worst team in the league right now! This surprises me because Ron Wilson is a very good coach. Jason Blake for some reason cant hit the side of the barn…its only a matter of time til he ends up in the minors. (That might wake up the rest of the team.)

Thank Goodness coach Tippett has brought some stability and structure to the talented Phoenix Coyotes, it shows that when a coach puts time and effort into their team, they get results. Hopefully the fans in Arizona will come out to support the team, because they are winning and that breeds excitement.

Nashville’s earl season Woe’s should lead to the end of one of the longest standing coaching jobs in the NHL, Barry Trotz. That’s too bad…Barry deserves better.

San Jose Sharks need to find some consistency in their play! I am shocked at their goals against average, and everyone is to blame for that! I still think they will win the West.

I love to see Sean Avery Still pissing people off in New York, I would take that bastard on my team anytime! I love him!

NINE YEAR OLD STUNS THE NATION!

What a day in Hockey, a nine year old Stuns the nation! Oliver Wahlstrom, that is the sickest move I have ever seen!! How can you make a move like that at only nine years old?

To do that in front of thousands of people is unreal. That is a hard move, I have tried to do that for years and years, and have never been able to! I was so impressed and got so many phone calls and emails from friends, that I had to track down his phone number and call him! I had to tell him how impressed I was, and Oliver’s Dad, was so appreciative. It was a lot of fun talking to Oliver, and now he is going on a whirlwind media tour! I wish him all the luck in the world!

START OF THE SEASON

The first season has started, and being retired as a fan was a lot more exciting for me then I thought it would be! I was at the San Jose Sharks opener, and I had a blast watching the boys kick Columbus’s you know what! The Tank was full and the noise was electric…what great fans in San Jose. My body was thanking me the entire time I watched the game, that I was not on the ice taking a beating. I watched the game thinking how every year the game gets faster and faster, and the players are bigger and stronger.

Danny Heatly gave the fans a sneak preview of his goal scoring talents, a hat trick in the home opener, that was awesome. It was great to see the guys, I so really miss that locker room atmosphere, you cant get that anywhere else! I hope the Sharks have a great season.

My Journal is going to change, because I am no longer affiliated with the NHL, so being under no obligation to the NHL, I will now tell it like I see it regarding things in the National Hockey League. I cant be fined anymore for having an opinion, and that is like a breath of fresh air.

I think it is going to be a great year in the National Hockey League, so many good teams with great young players. I’ll be interested to see if Tavares can live up to all the hype he has gotten over the past two years, I think it will take him a while, because I think he is as good as everyone says, but not in this league. I give him three years to prove me wrong.

Roenick’s Rant will be returning to Roenicklife.com, so please tune in!
