    Well Jeromy,
I for one have been watching you play nearly your whole career and have to say that I am very sad to see you go, Especially as a Shark. You bring the game more Character, Heart and passion that I have ever seen in ANYONE. You are the Heart and Sole of Hockey and hope that you do stay affiliated with the Sharks in some way. I bet it was awesome to hear from Mike, Keith and Chris at your press conference.
Thank you for giving US the pleasure of you playing in San Jose for 2 short ,however great years. Good Luck to you and your Family in the future.
P.S. Drink your Monavie :) It will help with the aches and pains of 20 yrs. in the NHL. So far 2 teams in MLB have adopted it as their official drink. My goal is that the Sharks adopt it as theirs and be the first NHL team.
Again All the Best to you and your Family.

  2. Mitchell says:

Thanks for being such an inspiring, energetic player throughout your career. You will be missed by fans everywhere. Good luck with everything, and I hope to see you around the hockey world in the future.

JR what a career man.. I grew up in Philly and made the Coyotes my favorite team because of the excitement you brought to the game.. changed my number to 97 and next thing I know you’re playing for the orange and black.. hate to see you hang up the skates.. come back to Philadelphia and catch a game, you’ll see we haven’t forgotten you..

  4. Carl in Philly says:

JR, words aren’t enough, but thank you. Thank you for working to be the great player you are. Thank you for the time you spend with the public and the fans. (My son cherishes his Flyer’s Wive’s Carnival pics with you.) Thank you for everything you have done for the sport and all of the teams you have helped, (I’m pretty partial to the Flyers and of course USA!).

Be well, enjoy yourself, explore all that there is for you out there. I know no matter what success awaits you. If you’re ever out our way (Reading area) golf’s on me.

    Dearest JR,

You are my role model for life!
You are courageous, sincere and honest with lots of love for the game, players and the fan. You are one of the most genuine people I have ever met and it was an honor to have you as part of our (San Jose’s) team!

Please do NOT forget us because we can NEVER think of Hockey without remembering the AMAZING games you have played.

    Wishing you the Best!

    Hailey Y.

  7. Eric Greifenberger says:

    Jeremy,
For years and years I’ve followed your career, collected your cards, and watched you play as much as I could on TV and lucky enough to see you a few times in person. To hear the news of your retirement, although knew if was going to happen at some point, was very saddening to me. My wife, who also rides horses and competes in Hunter Jumper, saw how much this took for me to sit down and compose my thoughts. First thank you, thank you for always being you and never caring about what other people said or thought. A great freedom that I was proud to protect for 10 years while I was in the Navy. I was actually featured in a 2004 Hockey pricing magazine with my collection of cards and jerseys. You will be missed on the ice, but I imagine once you are ready, you will be the voice of reason and truth when it comes to the game you played with such passion and tenacity for 20 years. Take care and best of luck in your next chapter of your life.

    Cheers,
    Eric Greifenberger

  8. Ashley says:

    Hey JR!!!

I’m sad to see you go, but I enjoyed your two years with the Sharks! Congrats on your successful 20 years, and I hope to see you in the Hall of Fame as a Shark. Oh, and you will definitely win the Tahoe Celebrity Golf Tournament next year! : )

  9. Frank P says:

Hey JR I have to say you had an amazing career from what I saw, because im only 12. I have to say im very disapointed to see you hang up your skates and leave. I saw your press confrence yesterday and if Chris Chellios can play another year I think you could of to. JR im disapointed about you leaving but, you had a heck of a career!I was at a flyers game and i was right were you guys walked in and i tried to tap your helmet but i missed haha. Again i say you had a heck of a career.

  10. MDJ says:

Congratulations JR! Can’t tell you how much you will be missed on the Sharks bench…you have such a passion for the game and the fans LOVE you. I hope that the 2nd half of your life is just as much fun as the 1st. Thanks for letting us ‘hang with you’ for the ride!

  11. Paul says:

    J.R
I’m from your neck of the woods(New England)and did you ever get an offer to play for the B’s?Do you think that there will ever be a 600 plus goal scorer from the U.S?It pains me to see that every other country has one and the U.S can’t make it into that tier.

    Paulie

  12. Cheryl Optie says:

J, I’ve known you since your Chicago days and you’ve always made me feel like not just a fan but also a friend. As you know Doug and I go waaaay back and I knew when he took you under his wing you’d be safe. Thank you for all the many years you’ve given your heart and soul. I know at times it hasn’t been easy. You’ll be missed JR. It’s about time you do something for YOU! Take care.

  13. Jenn :) says:

Hey JR..Thank you for the two years you played with the Sharks. It’s been a blast and sorry that we didn’t win the Stanley Cup but I hope to see you work for the Sharks some day. You’ve got a great heart full of energy. You are one of the nicest hockey players I’ve ever met. Thank you for the autographs and best of luck to you and your family. :)

    GO SHARKSS!! :D

  14. Ryan says:

JR, we’re gonna miss you in San Jose. I didn’t realize you were close and was having a conversation about you with a friend only a few days ago. We were hoping that you’d stick around the tank and become an announcer. Your injured time last year proved you have the wit and great personality for that job. Maybe you covered your future plans in your press conference, but the link decided to hate me this morning. Good luck and hopefully this won’t be the last we see of the great Jeremy Roenick!

  15. Michelle S - hometown Chicago says:

    Hi JR -
You have been my favorite hockey player since the day you skated on the ice at the Chicago Stadium. Nobody in the NHL had the goal-scoring finesse AND the hard-hitting physical ability like you did. I loved to watch you skate with Tony Amonte and Chris Chelios, as well as the other great Blackhawks. I was devastated when the Hawks traded you for Alexi Zhamnov — what a mistake. Since that day I prayed the Hawks would come to their senses and bring you home. Maybe in retirement you can once again be an ambassador for the Chicago Blackhawks and the NHL. Thanks for the puck that you flipped me over the boards during pre-game warm-ups in Chicago. You made my heart skip a beat and my knees weaken. I keep the puck inside a glass box with my ticket stub of that day. I will miss you and all that you added to the game. Best wishes in retirement. Michelle S. 16. Richard says:

  18. Jose A. says:

Congratulations on a wonderful career, and of course in your success as a SJ shark.
I hope you enjoy your years of retirement as you have definitely earned them. It’s time for you to spend your time with your kids.
Also, please tell Brett that “Jose Jalapeno” says hi and hopes he is doing well. I was his counselor at YMCA Camp Campbell when he went to science camp. He definitely helped make that week fun for everyone in that cabin. =D
    Thank you,
    -Jose
